Greggs PLC has named Ben Waldron as its next chief financial officer, with long-serving finance chief Richard Hutton set to retire and step down from the board at the end of 2026.
Hutton will remain in the role until the end of the year, bringing to a close more than 28 years with the bakery chain, including 20 years as a board member.
Waldron will join Greggs as an executive director before formally taking over as finance chief.
He will start as CFO-Delegate on October 27, 2026, and officially take over on January 1, 2027, with Hutton remaining in the role until the end of this year.
Waldron joins from the wider food sector, having spent more than 14 years at Bakkavor Group PLC, the international fresh-prepared foods business.
During his time at Bakkavor, he held senior operational and strategic roles, including group strategy director and chief executive positions at Bakkavor USA and Bakkavor Asia. Since leaving the group, he has been based in Australia and has worked in a range of advisory roles.
Earlier in his career, Waldron spent 12 years at Ernst & Young as an audit, advisory and transaction director.
