Square transaction data showed spending at British pubs, bars, and restaurants rose 11.7% between June 22 and June 24, compared with the same period a week earlier.
Bars and pubs saw the sharpest increase in customer activity, making them the strongest-performing hospitality segment.
Restaurant transactions were largely flat, increasing by just 1%.
London followed a different trend.
In the capital, bar and pub transactions rose 2%, while restaurant transactions declined by 4.7%.
June 23 was the busiest day nationwide for bars, pubs, and restaurants during the period.
The figures are based on Square transaction data from a consistent group of sellers, comparing the two three-day periods on a like-for-like basis.
