McDonald’s has reported a 1% decline in like-for-like sales in the UK and Ireland for Q1 2025, marking a tough start to the year for its International Operated Markets.
In a global trading update, the fast food giant said the UK was a key driver behind the segment’s dip, while US sales also fell by 3.6%. Overall global comparable sales were down 1%, with total revenue slipping 3% to $5.96bn.
Despite the dip, CEO Chris Kempczinski said the brand’s 70-year track record of “innovation, leadership, and proven agility” would help it weather tough market conditions.
