Coventry turned out in force as Bunsik, the UK’s No.1 Korean street food brand, celebrated the grand opening of its first Coventry restaurant at 11-13 The Burges on Friday 25 and Saturday 26 September, with queues forming along the high street on both days.
To mark the opening, Bunsik gave away 100 free corn dogs on each day of the weekend, with all corn dogs also available at 50% off for the remainder of each day. Customers began lining up ahead of the 11am opening on both days, with the free corn dog giveaways going within 30 minutes on Friday and 45 minutes on Saturday.
The weekend also saw a lively atmosphere on the high street, with a K-Pop DJ on Saturday and a team handing out flyers to passers-by as the queue continued through the afternoon. The Coventry restaurant, which sits close to Coventry University, Pool Meadow bus station and Coventry railway station, has brought Bunsik’s Korean corn dogs, tteokbokki, Korean fried chicken, kimbap and cup bap to the city for the first time.
The celebrations continue this week, with 50% off Korean fried chicken on Monday 28 September, 50% off cup bap on Tuesday 29 September and 50% off kimbap on Wednesday 30 September.
The restaurant has created 15 new jobs in the city, and forms part of Bunsik’s ongoing partnership with ZK Group as the brand continues its expansion beyond London and the South of England.
