Grind to open first non London site

Coffee brand Grind is to expand beyond London for the first time, with the opening of a new café in Manchester.

The new site will open this summer at St Michael’s development near Deansgate and is a “major milestone” in the brand’s ambitious growth plans.

Grind’s first northern café will add to its 11 London sites, three takeaway trucks and coffee roastery. The “all-day café” will serve Grind coffees and fresh and seasonal brunches, as well as cocktails.

Since its foundation in 2011, Grind has built a DTC business alongside its café estate. The brand launched into retail with Waitrose in 2023, and has since gained listings with Co-op and Ocado and acts as an own label supplier for M&S.

In February, it moved into matcha tea, with a new collection of ceremonial grade tea for DTC shoppers.
