Yianni’s, a new Greek street food and gyro shop, is set to launch in Glasgow city centre at the start of November, led by the team formerly behind the long-standing Bath Street restaurant, Yiamas.
It is the latest venture from mother-and-daughter duo Linda and Stascia Bantouvakis, who ran Yiamas for 15 years until it closed earlier this year. The concept is named in honour of the late Yiannis Bantouvakis, husband and father to the founders.
The fully refurbished site, also on Bath Street, has been transformed into a modern Greek street food venue with both sit-in and takeaway options. Targeting Glasgow’s city centre market of students, professionals and food lovers, the business will cater to lunchtime and evening trade, offering a quick-serve model built around classic Greek flavours at affordable prices. The menu will focus on pork and chicken gyros, traditional pastries and plant-based options.
Co-owner Stascia Bantouvakis said: “Our aim was to keep the warmth and flavour that regulars loved about Yiamas, but to give it new energy and accessibility. Yianni’s is very personal to us – it’s a tribute to my dad and a way for us to keep sharing our food with Glasgow.
We’ve designed the space and menu for the pace of city life. Whether you’re grabbing something quick or sitting down with friends, we want Yianni’s to feel familiar and fresh at the same time.”
Yianni’s opens on 1 November and will operate seven days a week.
