By Editorial Team

Indian street food chain Chaiiwala has opened a larger flagship café in Leicester city centre as part of its ambitious plan to grow its global network to 500 locations over the next decade.

Founded in Leicester in 2015, the brand has relocated its Granby Street café to a bigger premises, adding 2,000 sq ft of space and increasing seating capacity by up to 60 covers.

The new opening reflects Chaiiwala’s continued investment in its home city as it pursues further growth across the UK and international markets.

The café will open daily from 7.30am, with extended opening hours until 2am on Fridays and Saturdays to attract customers throughout the day and into the night.

The upgraded site features stadium-style bench seating, more spacious customer areas and self-service ordering kiosks designed to improve the overall dining experience.

The launch follows a recent refurbishment of the brand’s East Park café, highlighting its ongoing commitment to developing its Leicester operations alongside its wider expansion plans.

Co-founder welcomes new flagship opening

Chaiiwala co-founder Sohail Ali said the new Granby Street café marked an important milestone for the business in the city where it began.

“Leicester is home for Chaiiwala, so opening our new Granby Street flagship is an incredibly proud moment for us,” he said.

Ali added that the larger café would provide additional space and seating while preserving the atmosphere and authenticity associated with the brand.

He said the team wanted every aspect of the new premises, from its welcoming environment to its improved facilities, to reflect the company’s journey and offer something special to local customers.

Full menu and continued investment in Leicester

The Granby Street flagship will offer Chaiiwala’s full menu, including its signature Karak chaii, breakfast wraps, Bombay Bowls and a range of Indian street food favourites.

Ali also reaffirmed the company’s commitment to Leicester as it continues to expand into new markets.

“As Chaiiwala continues to grow, we remain committed to investing in the city and the communities that supported us from the beginning,” he said.

He added that the Granby Street opening, alongside investment in cafés such as East Park, demonstrated the brand’s long-term commitment to its home city.

With the larger flagship now open, Chaiiwala is continuing to build on its Leicester roots while working towards its target of 500 locations worldwide over the next ten years.
