The future of US bakery chain Cinnabon in the UK remains uncertain after all its sites were closed.
The group, known for its cinnamon rolls, was brought to the UK in partnership with Cooplands Bakery owner EG Group in 2020.
At the time, EG Group said it planned to open 150 Cinnabon bakeries across the country over five years as part of a master franchise deal.
But all 12 of Cinnabon’s UK locations, which are spread across high streets, shopping centres and petrol forecourts, have now closed.
An EG On The Move spokesperson said: “EG On The Move has made the strategic decision to close all Cinnabon locations operated in the UK. This was not a decision taken lightly, but it reflects the strategic shift to focus on our core convenience retail business.
This decision aligns with our wider business strategy to focus on areas where we can deliver the greatest value to our customers.
We extend our sincere thanks to our team members for their dedication, to the Cinnabon brand team for their ongoing partnership, and to our customers for their loyalty and support.”
Cinnabon was founded in Washington in 1985 and operates more than 1,200 locations worldwide.
